After my visit to Gudibande earlier this year, on a summer morning, I had then found the lake partially parched and dry – I wanted to visit this lake during evening time to witness the sunset hour by the lake. After several plans not working out a few weekends ago (totally unexpected humongous traffic jams both times), I finally managed to start toward this place last weekend. This time too, the drive was not without drama – even after having avoided the routes from last two times to get to the highway, I took almost 90 minutes just to get out of the city! Somewhere in between, I had almost given up this time too and headed back. The delays meant that we might not reach the place in time for sunset. Also, the weather was not too great when we started – cloudy and gloomy. In spite of all these, we decided to keep going. The drive after the city just took one hour to get us to this place. We reached by 5:35 pm, and the weather had cleared up beautifully.
The lake was totally full thanks to the abundant rains recently. So much so, that we could not get down to the level of the lake. Also, having reached just in time for sunset, we did not have the luxury of scouting for a better spot. So, we set up shop by a bridge and started shooting images. Here are the images we got.
After witnessing a glorious sunset by the lake, it was time to head back – just before we started back, we decided to have some fun painting light using a small torch. That and the light from the passing vehicles and some dusk colors still discernible in the distance, made this my favorite image from that day.
Fantastic! You are a genius Mithra. Your script is also very clear and expresses so well for us to visualize the situation. Keep at it.
